IIM- the place for MBA aspirants
One of the top B-schools and the best amongst the A-grade management colleges in India is Indian Institute of Management. It has in total 7 branches spread all over India. Ask any MBA aspirant what’s his dream education destination in terms of pursuing his MBA, and the immediate answer will be IIM.
IIM is known for its innovative and skilled teaching methods, its course content, its placements and the reputation built over the years. It’s not an easy job to get admission into IIMs. In fact, as per a recent survey, admission in IIM Ahmadabad was considered to be the toughest one all over the world. There are various rounds of analysis where one is scrutinized deeply before being allowed a seat; the very basic level is to score well in CAT to be eligible to apply for IIM India. The youngest is IIM Ahmedabad, being established in the year 1961. The founder of IIM Ahmadabad (IIMA) is Dr. Vikram Sarabhai along with few other industrialists. The motivation factor for this creation was the realization of various topics that were rising and were important in our Indian society like – health, education, transportation, population control, public administration, energy, agriculture, etc. over the years of its establishment IIM has gained so much popularity that there are 10 times more students appearing every year for the entrance exam in ratio to the available seats, hence the government is planning to come up with six more branches for IIM in the following locations – Jharkhand, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir and Chhattisgarh.
Even in the present times of recession and economic crises, IIM is able to give placements to its students in top MNCs and PSUs. As a matter of fact, in its early years of formation, IIM-A was collaborated with Harvard Business School, one of the top business schools at global level, hence it is pretty evident that IIM especially IIM-A happens to be one of the best business schools in India.
If IIM is your aim for your MBA then the criteria is that one should hold a minimum 3 years of graduation degree with at least 50% marks throughout or 45% for SC/ST of course after completing high school i.e. after which the CAT score is taken into account. Incase the university from which the student has completed his/her graduation has grading/CGPA system, then the marks equivalence will be calculated as per the standards set by the respective university or college.
Studying in any one of the IIMs in India is a dream that is difficult but not impossible. It can come true through hard work, effort and dedication.
